Swamp Sunflowers

Two Springs ago, we went to the " Masters Plant Sale" in Decatur.  I came across this plant called " swamp sunflowers".  I had never heard of it and thought it would be fun to have.  It wasn't blooming so I had no idea what it was going to look like.  I came home and planted it in the flower bed at the end of the porch.  Well, it grew really tall and then it started to get this funky mold on it and it died back.  I thought it was dead, but to my surprise, it came back this Spring.  So, I moved it out by the double bluebird house.  It grew tall again and a couple of weeks ago, I noticed it had blooms on it.  I was going to finally get to see what a "swamp sunflower" looked like!  I was a little disappointed but not really.  I thought it was going to be this BIG yellow flower and it ended up looking like black eyed susans, with green eyes.  At least it bloomed and gave me a little color to enjoy for Fall.  Now I don't have to wonder what a "swamp sunflower" looks like.
