The guy ( Tiny) came around 9:00 am and started raking all the mulch from the house site and piled it in a mountain to one side. Then, he cut down some more trees because the area wasn't big enough for the house and yard. THEN, he started digging the basement. It took all day...until around 6:00. The pictures don't give it justice. It's a BIG hole!!! We have enough mulch for half of Alabama. We have enough dirt to build up our yard, make retaining walls around the drive way coming out of the basement, to fill back in around the basement once the walls are built and we STILL have a big pile that we will have to get rid of. One of the guys said that it's super dirt and that we might be able to sell it. We are going to look into that once we know we don't need any more of it. It just all seems so unreal to Chuck and I. Chuck said tonight, while he was grilling some steaks for us to celebrate...." wow...what a week makes around here". I guess that will be the case from here on out until the house is done. I have a feeling it's going to go by fast. At the most, we should be in the house for Thanksgiving. That is if the weather works for us. Any ways....they are coming back on Monday to dig the footers and fill them with cement. Next will be the basement floor and walls....and retaining walls. The guys are laughing at me with all the pictures that I take of everything....lol. One guy said it's a good thing I have a digital camera and not using film. ...sooooo true!
