I became a Grandmother, ten years ago today and I have loved every minute of it. I can't believe Genavive is ten years old already. They sure grow so fast. When she was about 18 months old, she started calling me " Oona" and I've been " Oona" ever since. We are so lucky that her Mother and Father share her with us. For nine years we were a big part of Genavive's life and we are able to continue being a part of it even though we have moved to Alabama. Her Aunt Shell will be bringing her up for a week this summer and the time that we share with her is even more special now, that we don't get to see her very often. The excitement of counting the days until they come even adds to their visit. It's half the fun, planning and counting. They came over Spring break and we had such a good time. I write letters to Genavive so one day when she is my age, she can go back and read something that her Grandmother wrote to her,( in my hand writing...NOT..email!!!!) I have a " Genavive box" and she has an " Oona box", that we put our letters in from each other. Go ahead and call me " old fashion but sometimes the old fashion way just might be better than the " computer way". My Auntie Barbara and I used to write back and forth the whole time I was growing up and it means so much to me when I come across something that I have kept from her. I called Genavive this evening and sang " Happy Birthday" to her and we talked for a long time. She is such a sweetheart and we love her very, very much. " Happy Birthday, Squirt".!!!!!!
