You would think that the forest belongs to us the way we want to show it off to everyone that comes to visit. I guess in a sense, it does belong to us since it's a " National Forest". We are just so lucky to have it so close to us. When we have company that isn't used to "hiking" we take them on shorter hikes. We always end of up at Caney Creek Falls, but that is my favorite any ways. Chuck counted that we have been there seven times now and I'm sure we will be going back several times. We did find a new little falls when we took Teresa to the forest. It was in Holmes Chapel area. It was an easy short hike, once we figured out how to get down in the canyon and followed the stream. We looked for a "geocache" in the area but we didn't find it. We ended up eating our lunch there before going back to the Explorer so we could hike to Caney Creek Falls. It was a really cloudy day but it was perfect for taking pictures in the forest. The hiking group from " Wild South" was also hiking the upper and lower falls at Caney Creek. We ran into them just as we were heading out. We had found the " geocache" near the falls and everyone in the group wanted to know all about "geocaching". I think we will have some new geocashers...lol. There was one kid in their group that was geocaching and between him and Chuck, they found another one on the way back to the road. This one was about 100 yards off the trail, into the woods. It just makes " hiking" more fun. You feel like a little kid that has found a buried treasure box. On the way home, we stopped and picked up " Bar-B-Q" for dinner....it was Teresa's treat. It sure was nice not having to cook after a full day in the forest...even though we only hiked about five miles.
