We picked the U Haul truck up Thurs morning and we started loading it first thing in the morning. What a job for Chuck to load all the heavy plants, boxes and furniture alone. We were so lucky that Rob came to help early in the afternoon. My friend Debbie came also and she helped me finish up packing all the last minute things that needed to be in boxes. Then, we took what we could outside for the guys to load onto the truck. Deb and Rob left at dinner time and Shell came after work to help. Our good neighbors next door brought over dinner for us. ...which was very much appreciated beyond belief. Thank you so much Ann and Kim!! The next morning came early and Debbie came again, baring bagels for breakfast and was ready to help us finish the big job. Chuck stopped and took the pick up to go get a 12 foot U Haul covered trailer because we weren't going to get everything in the truck. Deb worked on up to early afternoon. We couldn't have done it without her. We were always " I'll be there to help you, friends". Some of the neighbors and family brought over food again for our dinner and it fed all our kids....Shell, Rob, Ryan, Nicole, Genavive, Hannah, Taylor and the two of us. We finished loading the truck by 8:30 and we told the kids all "good bye"....all but Shell and she spent the night in the empty house with us so she could get up the next morning at 4:00 to head out on the long, stressful drive. It was finally time to tell the house " good bye". I was surprised that I wasn't sad to leave it. I guess it was because I knew where I was going and it was going to be a much better place. This is the end of us living in Florida after 59 years...( not counting the couple of times we lived elsewhere when Chuck was in the Navy). I had no tears.
